ouch,,

customer wanted to check noise from engine. said sounds like pushrod noise.
I notice it happened only when it warmed up.. instantly thought about piston slap.
sure enough,, piston ring worn, created too much clearance ,caused piston slapped around in cylinder..this is bad but not worst though.new piston and honing would get this bike on the road.

another engine... customer brought the bike,, said his solid lifter cracked where pushrod sits.. As far as I know, those Jims lifter don't crack for no reason.
opened cam chest, I found this. cam shaft side play was too tight.. shim washer fused to the hardened steel camshaft.

and distort cam bearing... I have see this cam bearing area cracked before,, so, this aint that bad..

these engine were running,,
